He made a comeback in 2014 when he decided to release his first album in 13 years, ‘Man Against Machine’, and was invited to come on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in early 2015 to talk about his new album and what’s been going on in his personal life. According to Capitol Records, he had already sold more than 100 million records in the U.S. His reason for retiring was to spend more time raising his family. Back in 2000, however, fans of country music were heartbroken when Garth announced his retirement that fall.
